So where does a person go these days in and around Canberra for a relaxing day fishing? I used to drive up to Eaucumbene and Adaminiby but am at a point now where I think I just need something close to wet a line.

Suggestions please

giralang pond catchmant is a sess pool.it used to have a good population of redfis and the odd native,the only thing there these days are fat carp,and a few contaminated ducks…SHAME ON YOU TAMS!!!!

the reason why Ginninderra is so bad because tams doesnt clean the Giralang storm water drain catchment enuff or the other ones!
The water in the catchment for giralang pond is like oil black and smells really bad.
its been blocked up for many months the water from that pond pretty much floods the main lake everytime it rains alot.

Agreed. The smell of the local lakes alone should tell you that. Ginninderra seems to smell worse and worse every time I go there. Shudder at the thought of anyone eating anything from it.

Biggest we caught in the early 90’s was a 60 pound Murray cod in the Murrumbidgee only 5 mins or so drive from Hall. Have caught heaps of trout in the Brindies and surrounds and plenty of natives in the Lakes. Would be really good if they open up the new cotter dam to fishing instead of locking it up like Corin and the others. There is a good stock of trout in Corin Dam you only have to drive up there and look at the amount of fish rising at sunset.

He wants everyone to know all native fish were returned to the water without having “carked it when he saw a bloke wearing those white sunnies”

fantastic swag of fish and shows there are good fish to be had around the canberra region. Cant wait to get into them myself 🙂
