Kingsley’s Chicken has announced the opening of its northernmost store – and locals are already salivating.

Kingsley’s currently operates eight stores across the Canberra region, at Belconnen, Erindale, Kippax Fair, Lanyon, Tuggeranong, Weston Creek, Woden and Queanbeyan.

But there has been a conspicuous absence in all this – Gungahlin. But no longer.

In a post to its official Facebook page late last week, Kingsley’s announced its widely heralded chicken and chips are on their way to Casey “soon”.

“Gungahlin, you asked. We listened. And now… It’s happening!” the post read.

“That’s right – your favourite Unbelievable Chicken and Awesome Chips are about to be a whole lot closer to home.

“No more long drives or cravings left unsatisfied – because Kingsley’s Chicken is coming to Casey Market Town.”

Casey Market Town on Kingsland Parade currently houses ALDI, Supabarn, Coffee Guru, Priceline Pharmacy and Anytime Fitness – alongside other smaller shops, cafes, restaurants and fast food outlets like Domino’s, Zambrero and Subway.

“Honestly, about bloody time,” one comment read.

“Well, there goes any chance of me dieting any time in the next 10 years,” said another.

“This is the best news I could have received”, “Run, don’t walk!”, and “Finally! I need my croquettes!” others wrote in the comments.

One pointed out how Gungahlin will receive a Kingsley’s before its long-awaited cinema, or even the release of the popular video game GTA 6.

Some would like to see Kingsley’s grace other places with its presence – like Civic, Turner, Dickson and … um … Darwin.

“Please open one in Darwin, I miss Kingsley’s, my first food stop on holidays to Canberra,” wrote one.

“We need Kingsley’s in Adelaide,” said another.

Kingsley’s Chicken hasn’t released an opening date for Casey’s restaurant, apart from “soon”. No mention of Darwin and Adelaide expansions either.

Visit Kingsley’s Chicken for individual store opening hours.

Tried this once in Queanbeyan. Never again: the “fabulous” chips were not even ordinary, the chicken “fillet” in the burger was manufactured chicken and deplorable. There are a multitude of better options around.
