The Greens’ Caroline Le Couteur is getting in the election fantasy spending game with a policy to spend more on animal welfare.
βThe Greens Animal Welfare package includes much needed funding to the RSPCA, a desexing subsidy program for pets whose owners are on low incomes, as well as legislative changes to improve standards for poultry as well as cat and dog breeding.
— The $930,000 Responsible Pet Care & Animal Farming Package includes:
— $400,000 over four years for additional ongoing funding for the RSPCA
— $530,000 over four years for a desexing pets subsidy for concession card holders
— Outlawing cruel farming practices in the Territory
— Licensing of cat and dog breeders and mandatory standards for breeding operation
