ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a burglary at a St Vincent de Paul store in Greenway yesterday (Wednesday January 22).
Police believe the offender/s gained access to the store through the front doors sometime between 6.30pm Tuesday night (January, 21) and 8.30am yesterday morning (Wednesday January 22).
Police were called to the store after an employee discovered the damage and noticed a number of items missing including gold jewellery and a small amount of cash.
Officer in Charge of Tuggeranong Station Sergeant Daryl Neit said it is very disappointing to see that someone would steal from a charitable organisation.
“Any burglary offence is unacceptable, but to target an institution such as St Vincent de Paul is a very low act,” Sergeant Neit said.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw suspicious activity during this time or has any information regarding this incident to contact Crime Stoppers on
1800 333 000 or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
