Guns of Hackett stolen

Oh man I wish people would secure their firearms better. In the garage is not good enough. Inside your house in a dynabolted approved safe with dogs and BTB alarm (even if the alarm is in the safe room only) is the only way to go I reakon.

If I recall, there was a similar incident in Braddon or thereabouts recently, where guns were ‘securely’ stored in a shed in the back yard. Once again, the thieves seemed to know where to look.

Perhaps the firearm storage regime needs some tweaking, apart from inquiries being made about how these thieves mysteriously know where to look and when.

You can’t stop them, you can just slow them down. Forcing people to store their firearms in approved cabinets just makes them easier to identify. If someone had broken into the garage to steal tools and then saw a gun cabinet in the corner, then you can see why they would have a crack at the guns. If the guns were just hidden behind some old spare tyres or under a pile of old tarps, the thieves would have never found them!
Also, many people in order to have firearms, must be a member of the SSAA and they will send you their magazine each month. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see this magazine poking out of the letter box to put two and two together and determine that there are guns there somewhere.

inside the garage police found a secure gun locker broken into and two firearms taken.

Hmmmm, there is a logical disconnect between a secure locker, and one which can be broken into.
