A 22-year-old Hackett man has been released after being charged with accessing child abuse material.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said officers were contacted in August 2025 with allegations that a person was allegedly uploading child abuse material to an online application.
Police started an investigation and a search warrant was executed at a Hackett residence on Thursday (23 October).
During the search, they seized a mobile phone that allegedly contained child abuse material.
A 22-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of using a carriage service for child abuse material.
Region has chosen not to name the man as details of his alleged offending are unclear.
He briefly appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court the following day (24 October), when a Commonwealth prosecutor told the court that investigations into “a lot of electronic material” were continuing.
Police also said the seized phone will be subject to further forensic examination.
The spokesperson said the 22-year-old was already subject to an intensive corrections order.
Special Magistrate Lucinda Wilson granted him bail, with conditions including that he must reside at his Hackett address, surrender any passports he has and give notice of interstate travel lasting more than 24 hours.
He can also possess only one device, provide details of this device as requested, and not use various social media or messaging services.
He is next expected to appear in court on 11 November. No pleas were entered.
