ACT Policing has arrested a 23-year-old Charnwood man after he fled from police earlier this morning (Wednesday, 13 March).
Around 4.00am police observed the Toyota Hilux in Curtin, driving erratically. The vehicle was confirmed as being reported stolen.
The officers activated their car’s emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but it accelerated away. The pursuit was terminated shortly afterwards.
About five minutes later police observed the vehicle in Wanniassa. Another pursuit commenced when the driver again failed to stop for police. The pursuit lasted about five minutes, and stopped when the Hilux broke down in Garran.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House. He will face ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with breaching parole, driving a stolen motor vehicle and various traffic offences.
Any witnesses to the pursuit are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or online at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
