I regularly pass these four parking meters (spaced along a 100m stretch of road) and the majority of the time they are in the same state as pictured.

Belco carpark is free for the first three hours as long as you park in the multi story car park, not the metered park out the back. Get a good park on the third level, take your trolley up the escalators (sorry westfield, “travellators”) and it’s still pretty convenient. Also, the three hour rule applies until 5.30, so if you get there after 2.30 you can leave whenever you like.
actully, i retract my statements on the parking inspectors at brindabella. THey are being very vigilant today. its quite upsetting.
Friend of mine tried that, got a ticket while he was away looking for a trolley.
The trolley trick most certainly doesn’t have anything to do with using a shopping trolley to trick the carpark sensor into thinking you’re a car and giving you a new ticket at the inbound boom gate. They do have security cameras near the boom gates now though.
From my experience, if the machine eats your money without giving a ticket, you call the number on the machine and they note your name and rego. In the event you get a ticket, the fine gets waived.
what’s the trolley trick?
“so, were people still trying to give the machines money?”
wouldn’t suprise me.
I saw two ppl desperately trying to buy tickets the other day when it was after 12pm on a Saturday (free in this particular carpark at this time), guess ppl will go to any lengths to do the right thing?
yea, walk the 400 metres down th eroad to get a ticket, and by the time you get back some shaved-dogs-ass grey ghost will have booked you….
just park in the mall and go move your car every 2.5 hours. or try the trolley trick..
in the old days (like about 8 years ago) you could slam your fist against the side of the ticket machines and they would release all these random tickets. haven’t tried it with the newer machines though.
What’s the ‘law’ with broken ticket machines?
The above pictures are along the same space of road – does that mean everyone has to walk up and down the road to find a working one?
Same situation in a carpark? I’ve had to try 2 different machines in a City carpark the other week – the first wasn’t marked as out of order but it took my money without giving me a ticket.
