Liberal Senator Gary Humphries has sent out a copy of a speech he made in parliament last night.
It’s in memory of Mr Thomas Reid MBE who was a key part of Canberra’s role in the moon landings.
Worth a read.

I actually heard that speech on the radio. It didn’t sound like Gary Humphries at all – not the slightest trace of snark directed at anyone, and he actually spoke about someone who lived in Canberra without a trace of his ingrained hatred of Canberrans.
Grail, I think you might be the one given to snark and hatred my friend. Well done Garry.
Actually Tom ‘not Tim’ was the husband of Margaret Reid. I worked with Tom at the Tidbinbilla Tracking Station for many years, and he was a fantastic, passionate public servant. Cannot believe anyone would make political comments when such a dedicated, achieving person has passed away. No wonder we have an inferiority complex about achievements of Canberra residents working in the public sector. Vale Tom, you were a wonderful mentor to so many, and wow, you were there when man landed on the moon!.
Thanks for the link. Very interesting story. I extend my condolences also.
Interesting to see that Tim Reid was the husband of ex-senator Margaret Reid. My condolences to her and their family.

Most peculiar. I suspect Gary’s been replaced with a doppleganger.
Then again, this was a speech prepared for him by someone else, so the lack of snark and derision is probably due to him being unaware of what he was actually saying.
Boy those glassy-eyed Greens supporters still can’t get over the fact their candidates were rejected at the election and the people of Canberra voted Gary back in, despite a half a million dollar campaign backed by the unions and most of Canberra’s media. Build a bridge and get over it morons, you are becoming boring.
So, no comments on the content of the speech, then? Just anti-Liberal vitriol?
How sad… and predictable.
