A light fitting in a three-bedroom home caused a small electrical fire tonight in Kaleen.

Firefighters rushed to the Tyrrell Circuit residence following an Emergency Triple Zero (000) call at 8.29pm and extinguished the fire which caused minimal smoke damage to the home.

The occupants safely self evacuated and fire crews are now ventilating the property before departing the scene.

Two fire pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van, the specialist Hazardous Materials Unit and a command officer responded to the incident.
