ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery in Kaleen last night (Wednesday, October 24).
Around 5pm a man entered the Kaleen Newsagency and threatened staff with a firearm, demanding cash.
Staff members complied with his demands and the man left the store running across Georgina Crescent and then onto Staaten Street.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance and aged between 20-25 years of age. He was wearing tracksuit pants, a grey hooded jumper and large sunglasses.
Detective Acting Superintendent Bob Wynn said staff acted appropriately by complying with the offender’s demands.
“No amount of money or stock is worth the threat to human life,” Acting Superintendent Wynn said.
Anyone who saw someone matching the description of the offender in the area around the time of the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
