what saddens me as an afl fan is that with auskick going from hundreds to 3700 participants that surely indicates a growing base.

in ten years those kids will have $$ of their own.

for blokes like me who loved footy but couldnt make the 3rd 18 we watch and buy the afl product.

i remember peter mackenna coming to my school and handballing to me when i was 6.

im sure canberra kids feel the same way.

by abandoning long term development the afl will never grow beyond its base.

The raffle you saw was the Kangaroos 2006 major raffle – a lazy 250,000 tickets at $5 each.

The more info that comes out of the move shows it was the AFL who pushed them to move through the desperate need for $, and as a blocker to the NRL Titans – with the Kangas playing at Carrara, Carrara has to stay an oval rather than being redeveloped into a rectangular ground for NRL…
