No injuries have been reported after the Canberra Services Club was evacuated earlier this morning due to a kitchen fire.
Emergency services were first called to the Barton venue on Blackall Street just after 11:30 am.
Intense smoke from the flames caused the street to be closed, and the blaze was extinguished at around 1 pm.
The club took to Facebook to let the community know that everyone was safe.
“The club will be closed until further notice while we assess the damage and ensure everything is safe before reopening,” it stated.
“Thank you for your understanding, and a HUGE thank you to the emergency services for their incredible work today.”
An ESA spokesperson said the cause of the blaze was under investigation.
The street remains closed.
