Hi, Riotact, hoping someone among your community can offer some advice on this matter. Have just moved into a new house with an induction stove top. And NONE of our cookware is suitable! Is there any alternative to buying all new cookware?

I have stainless steel saucepans of varying brands. Not all stainless steel saucepans will wok on an induction stove top. They have to be able to have a magnet stick to them, and it won’t to all stainless steel saucepans. Plus some of the best saucepans have copper bases, and copper won’t work on induction stove tops.

I don’t get it. Why is none of your old cookware suitable ? A saucepan is a saucepan.
Not all cookware is created equal, e.g. Alluminium can’t go in the dish washer. Induction cooktops need pots and pans that have iron in them. You can test if it works if you can make a magnet stick to them.

It’s new cookware or a new hotplate I’m afraid. On the positive side induction cooktops are great to use and so easy to clean!
Huh? What is your cookware made of? I did a quick google search and found out that cookware with a ferrous (iron) base is suitable.
