ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a road rage incident yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, August 24) which started in Greenway before ending in Civic.
Around 5.45pm yesterday, a black Lexus RX400 four wheel drive was stopped at a set of traffic lights on Drakeford Drive, Greenway when it was struck by a grey or beige coloured Land Rover Freelander four wheel drive.
The woman driving the Lexus got out of her car and approached the driver’s side of the Land Rover to exchange details.
At this time the man driving the Land Rover, described as Caucasian, aged in his mid twenties, with a solid build, short blond hair and clean shaven drove away from the collision scene, running over the woman’s foot.
The woman returned to her vehicle and continued on her way.
A short time later, while travelling along Parkes Way, the man driving the Land Rover has driven alongside the Lexus and made several threatening gestures towards the woman with a large knife.
The incident was reported to police and through a coordinated response by ACT Policing General Duties, City Beats and Specialist Response and Security officers located the Lexus on Commonwealth Avenue, with the woman unharmed.
Police conducted an extensive search for the Land Rover, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, saw either of the two vehicles around 5.45pm yesterday, or recognises the man described above to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
