An iconic resort on the shores of Lake Burrinjuck is fresh on the market and ready for its first ever change of ownership.
Tightly held by a single local family since its establishment in 1909, Good Hope Resort at 1087 Good Hope Road offers a peaceful lakeside retreat just 15 minutes from Yass.
The resort is set on more than 56 hectares, equipped with a range of cottages, cabins, caravan sites, and campsites (powered and unpowered) serviced by toilet, shower and laundry facilities.
Reception doubles as a quaint cafe and boutique gift shop. There’s also a fully fenced swimming pool, and covered barbecues down by the water’s edge.
Generating about $600,000 in annual income, the property is just as popular with day visitors as it is with overnight guests. They come in droves for fishing, boating, biking, swimming, lakeside barbecues, and all manner of watersports.
Cody Edwards and Anthony Vatalis, from Raine & Horne Commercial Canberra, quietly debuted the listing on social media a few weeks ago – immediately fielding interest from resort groups, private investors, and long-time cabin owners with personal ties.
Mr Edwards said the healthy level of early enquiries demonstrates strong demand for large-format tourism assets like this one.
“It’s incredibly rare to bring a property of this scale, history and natural amenity to the market, let alone one that has not sold since 1909,” he said.
“A buyer with a vision for a multi-layered holiday experience that offers a broad range of accommodation options and recreation choices from boating, fishing, to water sports such as skiing and jet boating, will see enormous potential here.”

The name Good Hope is a nod to the land’s locality, where early settlers developed their communities around farm stations in the early 19th century.
Long before any commercial offering, the resort was tied to the creation of Burrinjuck Dam.
It all started with the current owners’ great-grandfather, who used the site to ferry clay and sand up the Murrumbidgee River during construction.
When Burrinjuck Dam was finished, he began bringing sightseers upriver to view the new landmark, which established an early foothold for ongoing tourism in Yass Valley and the wider Southern Tablelands region.

Beyond its history and appeal as a family-friendly getaway, Good Hope Resort also offers a healthy combination of established revenue, prime location, and a loyal base of regular visitors.
There’s also an existing development approval to consider, which allows for 28 additional dwellings and offers immediate operational flexibility for further expansion or redevelopment (subject to planning requirements).
“The DA approval creates significant scope for growth, and the scale of the site means operators can cater for everything from traditional camping and caravanning through to the development of higher-end resort-style accommodation,” Mr Vatalis said.
“Very few properties in regional NSW offer this combination of expansive water frontage, existing income, development flexibility, and a story stretching back more than a century.
“It’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Potential buyers and locals alike will no doubt be watching closely to see how this storied resort continues its enduring legacy.
