Oh, Ye of little faith. I suggest Taylors Creek Road, which like I said gets you good and close to at least one of them. If the Farmer is there, like he was when we went up, he was happy enought to let us go in for a closer look and even explained how they worked to the kids.

Thank you for your suggestions everyone. I called up the company who owns Capital Wind Farm and they referred me to someone who works there. Got a good bit of info and no, there is no public access at this point due to safety reasons. There are however a few being built nearby which could offer easy access and some potential photo ops.

Wouldn’t work very well for the wind farm in this case. It’s Capital Wind Farm or somesuch, and its official area is Tarago. Crookwell is a different facility, and it’s near… Crookwell.

Capital do have open day events.. I think they had one during that Lake George arts festival thingy a while back.

The ones up at Crookwell have a nice viewing car park and are easier to get to. No dirt roads involved.

If you know the right public roads to go down, you can get within 60-70m of them.

Scouts went to check them out last year. If you ask the tubine company really nicely, they may be able to take you on a tour. Baked goods can also be a nice thank you for the locals allowing you on their land.

You could do a radical step like, use google to identify the facility operators, ring them and ask…

Or just take a long lens and tripod.

The turbines are on private land. If you think it would be socially acceptabe for someone to enter your own property to take snaps, then by all means wander over and take your photos, and if the owner doesn’t take kindly to your attitude, see if you can bring him or her around to your socially inclusive point of view.
