Lake Lyneham filling up

Has anyone else looked at the construction site of this lake in Nearmap.com??? Looks like the art students at the local High School have been doing some overtime. I’m not reprinting the image btw.. its a bit offensive lol

Sullivan’s Creek Catchment group that originally proposed all the wetlands and helped the David Street one get constructed didn’t plan them to be sooooo big and expensive. Once the Govt and contractors got hold of them everything has changed. The water from this Lyneham one and the Mitchell/Epic ones is supposedly going to be “farmed” to provided water for sporting grounds and other projects under some scheme ACT Govt made with the Feds.

It actually seems the size of the Three Gorges Dam in China, compared with the other wetlands in the Inner North. Lots of drowned villages in it, and the occasional Buddha.

I think it got pretty close to full this time (and once previously, I believe). The poor old pumps are copping a good work out.

Just ordered a box full of mozzie repellents off the internet…

Not sure, I haven’t been past since the latest downpour. But you’re right, it does look quite full.
