Fun to see the Amaroo Group Centre in there for next Financial Year and the Year after. Public Consultation must have gone well.
Am I reading it correctly to add the Private Sector, Joint Venture, LDA Estate and Release ready sites to come to the total number of sites to be released in that area? If so, seems to be supply well exceeds demand when you compare the estimated Gungahlin demand in 2011-2012 to the released sites at Crace, Jacka, Moncrief, Flemington Road, Kenny and the Amaroo Group Centre.
Also reading alongside the Territory Plan and the proposed Amaroo Group Center that looks like some large number of people going in out there at the northern fringe, with just one bus (route 59 on weekdays and 958 on weekends) servicing the area. Fun fun.
Chewy, you’re right, it was the Qld floods I meant. Just because some commercial building has occured where there are risks, doesn’t mean that we should build residential housing there.
Mixed use site on the corner of Consititution and Anzac Parade, Campbell.
If that includes multi-unit high rise, I am more than happy to buy off the plan.

I see that they have included the Athlon Drive Corridor – this idea was floated and abandoned several years ago because it is a natural floodplain.
I would have thought that after the Brisbane floods, our planners would have learned something.
Obviously not.
Not quite sure what a riverine flood has to do with building near a creek but OK.
Maybe you were thinking more about the Toowoomba floods?
Sure, there will be issues with building close to the creek but with proper augmentation of the stormwater and building at appropriate levels there shouldn’t be a big issue.
It’s not a very large catchment area and a fair proportion of the Phillip commercial district is already as low or lower than this land.
I was suprised to see the density of Lawson. I guess it will be like a mini Gungahlin close to the Lake, Uni and Belconnen Mall. I would have loved to live there, but would rather have some space from my neighbours.
