ACT Policing has arrested a 20-year-old O’Malley man after a vehicle pursuit overnight in Waramanga.
Around 2.40am this morning (Tuesday, August 14), police were conducting stationary speed detection along Namatjira Drive when they detected a dark-coloured Toyota Corolla exceeding the speed limit.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but after the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit commenced travelling along Namatjira Drive, Badimara Street and Hindmarsh Drive before the driver stopped near the St John Vianney Primary School.
The pursuit lasted less than four minutes and the maximum speed reached by the 20-year-old driver of the Toyota was 120km/h in a 60km/h zone.
The 20-year-old was charged with a number of traffic offences and has been released from the ACT Watch House on bail to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
