I am looking for someone (either an individual or group) to teach me how to spin.
I have an antique saxony spinning wheel and would like to learn to spin my sheep and alpaca fleeces.
Can anyone help?

Alpaca Magic at Sutton run regular classes in spinning alpaca hair. Their website is pretty horrendous but if your eyeballs can stand it, the info on it is here:

For contacts you could also try the old bus depot markets on the weekends, some of the stall owners provide fibre, fleece and yarns for spinners, also you could send a shout out on ravelry.com – there are plenty of spinners and people interested in the fibre arts in Canberra and around Australia that may not be linked in with CWS as well as access to advice and ideas from around the world.
Hi, a friend of mine has asked me to post this, she loves this stuff & cen help you out.:
Canberra Spinners & Weavers – http://csw.org.au/
There should be a “Learn to Spin” course running in late July, if you ring CSW they will be able to put you in touch with the tutor.
http://csw.org.au/index.php?p=1_5 – is a list of our activities if you want to join before the course, we’ve got an extensive library covering spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, dying, etc, a shop and are a friendly bunch. Tuesday night (6-8:30pm) is probably best if you work, next meet is 24 July – we can give you some tips on ‘tuning’ your wheel or you can use a guild wheel for the night.
Try Canberra Spinners and Weavers. They do classes and have meetings.
