Today being the day to court favour with the hotel owners of Canberra the Liberals have announced what they’re promising to do for them if elected:
If elected, the Canberra Liberals will:
— Commit $2 million to bring the concept of an international standard convention centre to a position where it can attract Commonwealth and/or private sector funding.
— Establish an independent Canberra Marketing and Tourism Agency, which would be dedicated to identifying and marketing tourism and other investment and business opportunities in the ACT.
— Task the Canberra Marketing and Tourism Agency with developing a comprehensive strategy to encourage ‘grey nomad’ tourism in Canberra, including working closely with EPIC.
–Develop a tourism strategy involving comprehensive plans for accommodation, events and attractions.
