A 42-year-old Harrison man has been charged with high-range drink-driving for the sixth time, after he was pulled over by police early on Sunday morning (25 March 2018).
Police said that around 12.05 am, officers from Gungahlin Police Station stopped a car for suspected speeding offences and requested the driver produce his licence.
But the driver refused to comply and he was arrested and given a roadside breath test which returned a positive result. The man was then taken to Gungahlin Police Station where a further analysis returned a result of 0.255, more than five times the legal limit for a full licence holder.
Further enquiries revealed this was the sixth time this man had been caught for high-range drink-driving, and that he held a probationary driver’s licence, with an interlock condition, requiring a 0.00 alcohol limit.
The man’s licence was suspended for 90 days, effective immediately. He will be summonsed to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date charged with high-range drink-driving and not complying with his licence conditions.
