A man had to be rescued after he entered a lion enclosure at Canberra’s zoo. Fortunately, both the man and the animals were unharmed during the incident.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said officers went to the National Zoo & Aquarium around 1:30 pm on Sunday (27 September) after hearing that a man had entered an animal enclosure at the zoo.
While police did not state which enclosure he entered, Region understands it was a lion enclosure.
“The man was safely removed from the enclosure and was transported to hospital for assessment,” the police spokesperson said.
“Neither the man nor any animals were injured as a result of the incident.”
A zoo spokesperson thanked police for resolving the matter.
“The quick and efficient responses by both zoo staff and ACT Policing ensured a good outcome to the incident,” they said.
