Master Builders ACT took home two major awards at this year’s ACT Training Awards, winning both Small Training Provider of the Year and ACT Apprentice of the Year.
Held at the National Convention Centre on 3 September, the annual ACT Training Awards showcase the outstanding achievements of the ACT’s vocational education and training (VET) sector across the territory, recognising the individuals and organisations driving skills development and workforce growth.
Winning Small Training Provider of the Year for their delivery of high-quality construction training in the region, Master Builders ACT CEO Anna Neelagama said the award highlights the organisation’s commitment to delivering modern, accredited courses that prepare the ACT’s next generation to exceed standard vocational benchmarks.
“Championing quality in the ACT building and construction industry is at the heart of everything we do at MBA Training,” Ms Neelagama said.
“This award is a huge recognition of the efforts of our hardworking trainers and administrative team, who are among the best in the industry.
“They bring extensive industry experience and genuine passion to every classroom and worksite to ensure our trainees not only meet industry standards, but exceed them.
“This win is about building a better building industry for the ACT and region. With all 26 construction trades currently in shortage in the ACT, growing the future construction workforce has never been more critical.
“The students who walk through our doors today are our future builders, civil construction engineers, project managers and safety experts. They are the future of our building industry, and we are proud to play a role in shaping it.”
Recent MBA Training carpentry graduate Emmi Lee was honoured with the title of ACT Apprentice of the Year.
“Emmi’s achievement sends a powerful message: there is a place for women in every corner of the construction industry,” Ms Neelagama said.
“At Master Builders ACT, we are proud to champion women in construction. We want to see our female apprentices thriving at the highest level. Emmi represents the best of what our training programs can deliver, and I have no doubt she will be a leader in the industry in the years to come.”
MBA Training, along with other aligned winners, will represent the ACT at the Australian Training Awards, to be held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney on 20 November.
