ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted aggravated robbery outside the Mawson Club in Heard Street, Mawson last night (Wednesday, June 22).
Around 7.20pm, the 25-year-old victim was walking to his vehicle which was parked outside the Mawson Club when he heard a man’s voice behind him. He turned around and was struck to the back of his head with an unknown implement causing him to fall to the ground.
While on the ground the offender attempted to take the victim’s car keys, however he was unsuccessful and walked away. The victim stood up and saw three males walking away from him.
As a result of the incident the victim sustained some abrasions to his hands and knees and pain to the back of his head however he did not require medical treatment.
The offenders are described as being about 173cm (5’8”) tall with thin builds. They were wearing dark coloured hooded jumpers with the hood pulled over their heads.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the carpark outside the Mawson club and witnessed the attempted aggravated robbery last night, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
