National Film and Sound Archive recognises podcasting and Canberra culture in a Performance Podcast.
The Insatiable Banalities Podcast is celebrating their 50th episode and inclusion in the National Film and Sound Archive with a live performance event at the Archive on 27 July 2006.
Downloaded weekly by a select international audience, the podcast has a devoted following in the USA, UK, Netherlands, and Canada, and has been heard as far afield as Turkey, Tokyo, and St. Kitts. Aside from a cast of regulars sitting around drinking beer, smoking, and discussing topical events, the podcast has been made notable by the 30 odd Canberra bands who have joined us over the last year and shared their music with the world.
On the night we’ll be joined by The Cashews, Randall Blair, and Julia and the Deep Sea Sirens.
One of our American listeners will, by luck, be in Canberra (he’s commencing studies at the ANU) and will be available for comment about his impressions of Canberra and its culture through the window of our podcast.
Be warned however, the podcast curse has struck down a tokyo barman’s relationship, a small dog, and the career of Hugo Kelly at Crikey.com.au.
