Two taxi drivers have been assaulted and property stolen early this morning by two unknown men in separate incidents (Friday, September 9).
The first incident occurred about 4.40 am in a Cygnet Crescent car park in Red Hill. The driver was preparing to begin his shift when two men approached the parked taxi. One man punched the driver in the head while the other opened the passenger door and stole a mobile phone and wallet, containing a small sum of cash.
The first offender is described as wearing a dark-coloured jumper and the other a white-coloured jumper. Both are described as Caucasian in appearance.
The second incident occurred about 5.55 am in Weston, in a car park at Cooleman Court. The driver was threatened by two men, one with a possible tyre iron, and also robbed of his mobile phone and wallet.
The two offenders were last seen heading in the direction of Namatjira Drive from Parkinson Street.
Forensics samples were obtained from one of the taxis and enquiries are ongoing.
