Have any fellow RA’s dined at Morks Thai in Florey?
It’s a bit more expensive than the local corner Thai place and reading the menu is sounds delicious and a bit different !

Firstly Morks is really good. Awesome food, good service nice atmosphere. It is slightly pricey, but you get what you pay for.
Seccondly:
“Meh…. Canberra dining in general is sub-par, so anything that is halfway decent is apparently ‘Oh-my-god awesome’.”
“If people were honest they would say that it is a place that does not bad Thai at a price.”
Everywhere you go has sub-par dining, no matter which town/city/country you are in.
Yes, I agree there are some sub standard places in Canberra, there are in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart aswell.
People are honest, its an awesome place, I have had crap, sub-par, so-so, good, very good and awesome at different places around town. To add to that I do alot of cooking and I am very fussy with my food and with the quality of the food that I eat. So that being said, I would reccomend Morks any day of the week, it IS awesome food 🙂

Yes, it’s true that a lot of Canberra dining is crap, but this place was introduced to me by Thai friends who know their food and is certainly among the best Thai in Canberra. I also rate Thirst in Civic, and Thip’s Thai Lunchbox in Belconnen for the no-nonsense approach.

I do not understand how a place can have average takeaway but awesome dine in??? How does that work really???
Do it do it do it do it do it!
Myself and the other half were invited by friends there a couple of weeks ago, and we had the banquet, which was wonderful, but we were so intrigued and tempted by the tasting menu that we went back the very next night, just the two of us, and it was brilliant. Definitely a worthwhile experience although the service was a bit slow, because they were absolutely packed out (on a Wednesday night!)
I wouldn’t say the portions were generous, let alone “massive”, but Morks produce some of the best Thai cuisine I have experienced. Well worth the price of admission.
Yeah I have been there a few times. Instead of being dishes that you share they are individual servings as if you are eating in a fine dining restaurant. The food is excellent and the portions are massive. I would definitely try it out if I were you.
I have done a post about it here – http://susaneats.blogspot.com/2011/02/morks.html
All I can say is “do it” – before everyone else discovers this place. We’ve been there twice and can’t wait to go back. It’s brilliant!
Way beyond the usual Thai stuff – at least, dine-in is (t/a is reportedly fairly standard). The red duck curry is fantastic – a whole confit duck leg/thigh, roasted, in a terrific red curry with lychees, served on two rice cakes (crisp outside, fluffy inside). The pork belly is sensational too, utterly unlike what you’d expect – think a pork terrine with chunks of juicy meat and spinach, wrapped (somehow!) in a crip pork belly skin, with salad etc. The mussaman curry is also excellent. One of the entrees is asparagus in green curry with brie (yes, brie) – another inspired combo. The most spectacular entree is the angel prawns, seven plump prawns with “crying tiger” type sauce/salsa, served in a clay pan with seven little hollows, one per prawn, and seven conical clay lids on top, straight from the oven.
So, yes, a bit pricier than a standard Thai but worth every penny. You won’t be disappointed. Both times we’ve been on a Monday, by the way – not too many restaurants bother opening on Mondays. BYO with a decent bottle shop nearby.
