1. Heritage planning for LBG underway:
- Andrew Smith, Executive Director with the NCA says:
‘Once finalised, the management plan will ensure that Lake Burley Griffin and adjacent lands are protected in accordance with their heritage significance.’
This is the second phase of public consultation undertaken by the NCA. The first stage included the preparation of a heritage assessment followed by stakeholder workshops and an online survey.
Mr Smith says the NCA would like to hear once again from the Australian community.
The draft plan is online and comments close 29 May.

2. Victory declared on Anzac Parade Stage 1:
- Over the last five months, the southbound lanes of Anzac Parade, between Fairbairn Avenue and Constitution Avenue have been replaced.
These lanes were reopened to traffic on 18 March and work since then has focused on upgrading the verge and median island.
The southbound lane roadworks is the first component, in a three stage process to completely reconstruct the national capital’s ceremonial avenue. This is the first major restoration of Anzac Parade since it was constructed in the 1960s.
Stage two, replacing the northbound lanes will start in November.

3. Lodge trees get cleaned up:
- Dead and dying trees will begin being removed from Lodge Park early next week.
The trees on the eastern side of the Prime Ministers’ Lodge will be removed as a matter of priority, following several trees being uprooted after high-winds yesterday.
Fencing is currently being erected on site to protect the public.
An arboriculturist will assess the trees tomorrow, with removal expected to begin on early next week.
