Two men will face ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Saturday, 12 October) in relation to an alleged sexual assault on Thursday, 26 September.
Police will allege the two men, aged 31 and 20, lured the victim into meeting them using a social networking application.
Upon meeting the men at Kippax Fair in Holt, the woman was driven to an apartment in Belconnen, where she was assaulted.
Yesterday, police executed a search warrant where a number of items were seized. The two men were arrested, and transported to the ACT Watch House.
The men have been charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement, acts of indecency and abduction.
Police will oppose bail.
Superintendent Justine Gough said this incident was a stark reminder of the dangers of social networking applications.
“I urge all social media users to prioritise their personal safety when interacting with other users. These sites can be, and are used by criminals to commit a variety of criminal offences”, Superintendent Gough said.
