Woden and Belconnen community services will form a partnership to deliver the remodelled Human Services Gateway from 1 July.
The ACT government will provide $4.4 million over three years for the gateway, which links people with the services they need. The project is based at Nature Conservation House in Belconnen.
Community services minister Yvette Berry (pictured) said the idea of the gateway was simple: “People coming here in need of services such as housing, disability or family support get connected to the service they need as simply and quickly as possible.
“This is best for them and for our system – minimising the stress on people and families, and letting service providers focus on the support that’s needed.”
Berry said the government’s Better Services reforms were designed to enable people to focus on the challenges in their lives, not on navigating an over-complicated service system.
“Since it was first launched in Belconnen three years ago the Human Services Gateway has become an important part of our human service system and today marks the next stage in its development,” she said.
“The new model will operate as an enhanced multi-service partnership spanning government and community services. Woden Community Service and Belconnen Community Service will focus on linking individuals and families to the information and services they need.”
