Police have established a crime scene following a fatal pedestrian collision in Queanbeyan.
Just after 1pm today (Friday 23 August 2013), a woman crossing Monaro Street was hit by a cement truck travelling in a southerly direction.
The elderly woman died at the scene. She is yet to be positively identified and her next of kin notified.
The driver of the truck was taken to Queanbeyan Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
A number of traffic diversions are in place with Monaro Street between Collett and Crawford Streets being diverted.
Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and who has not yet spoken to investigators.
A report will prepared for the information of the Coroner.
