A 37-year-old Florey man was arrested by police last night (Tuesday, May 17) after engaging in a pursuit through a number of Tuggeranong suburbs.
About 11.30pm members from Tuggeranong Police Station were on mobile patrol in Chisholm when they attempted to stop a silver coloured Daihatsu Charade with four occupants on Halley Street.
The driver failed to stop the car when indicated to by police and led police on a chase through Gowrie and Wanniassa, reaching a maximum speed of 100km/h, before stopping in Kambah. The driver then took off on foot with police apprehending him a short distance from the car. The three other occupants had remained in the car.
The driver was arrested and taken to the ACT Regional Watch House where he was later bailed. He has been charged with drive while disqualified, dangerous driving, not obey direction of police and possess prohibited substance. He will face the ACT Magistrates Court on May 31.
