Parkes Way will be shut in both directions between Coranderrk Street and the Glenloch Interchange as light rail bridge works continue.

The closure will start at 8 pm on Friday (27 June), and will end at 5 am on Monday (30 June).

The far-right lane on Commonwealth Avenue (above Parkes Way) will also be closed during this time.

A second closure could be needed from 8 pm on Friday, 4 July, until 5 am on Monday, 7 July.

It’s to allow for piling works to be carried out underneath Commonwealth Avenue, which will then enable the installation of bridge girders.

Public transport may experience some delays due to the work.

Motorists will need to follow detours while Parkes Way is shut.

Westbound traffic will detour via Commonwealth Avenue Bridge southbound, loop around Flynn Drive, and return northbound to rejoin Parkes Way via the on-ramp.

Eastbound traffic will detour via Caswell Drive and Belconnen Way/Barry Drive to head toward the city, then via Cooyong Street and Coranderrk Street to get back onto Parkes Way.

An alternative eastbound detour to access the city is also available via Lady Denman Drive and Clunies Ross Street to Barry Drive.
