Anybody that was parked on owen crescent (near macarthur house) today at around 2pm now has a shiny new ticket, thanks to the parking inspectors.
Apparently they do several days in a row, so you may want to move your car for the rest of the week.

people park illegally because they’re lazy.
or because they have no choice due to the dismal public transport options in this town for anyone who doesn’t live or work on a 300 series route.
No, because they’re lazy. There is abundant parking in the city or further down near the parliamentary triangle if you’re willing to get there just 10 minutes earlier, and a lot of buses run along that stretch of road.
So I need to drive to the city and then catch a bus to go the last 3km (don’t forget quite a few busses going down Northbourne don’t actually stop at any stops along the way) or even further away at the parlamentary triangle where I’m then 6km away from where I need to actually get to.
When I worked at 243 (next to macarthur house) it was a pain in the rear end to get to and from the city, which is something I needed to do frequently due to our other office being in the city. The few times I bussed it I remember that last little bit down northbourne was the biggest pain in the arse as quite a few busses didn’t actually stop along northbourne and their first stop was Dickson shops.
Surely it’s not that hard to read a timetable and check ahead of time and make sure you catch a bus that stops where you need it too stop?

Assuming Parking Operations still have their offices in MacArthur House and can look directly down onto the dirt patch and surrounding streets, wait until it’s full of lazy motorist’s cars, and simply walk down and start making money, it’s not surprising it’s a regular event.

If people are getting caught *every* day, shouldn’t that indicate to the government that more parking is required? People don’t illegally park because it’s fun…
There’s nothing new about parking inspectors hitting that area. The big ad-hoc dirt carpark on the corner of Wattle & De Burgh Streets is constantly hit.
If you’re happy to park on that dirt patch, you may as well park it across the road on the block of the abandoned burnt-out shell. At least there, you’re on private property.
