Might be the warm weather reminding me of lazy summer days of my youth, I have a hankering to play some pinball.
Anyone know if there any decent machines to play in our fine town?

Not quite as exciting, and a bit OT, but anyone remember those old “desk” games? I remember there was a pacman one down the old fish and chip shop growing up… used to beg dad to play, but was turned down – 40c a pop was a bit too steep! :o)
I have always wanted to start a Pinball devotees website and try to list locations for pinballs around Canberra and/or oz.
I have played the Indy machine at Zone 3 to death (and it did actually die, but may be back now). The 2 machines in Intencity in the mall are almost always dead. (World Cup 96 and Space Jam) I love the Lord of the Rings machine which was down in the Hyperdome movie theatres for a while. Capital Funland has a few in Civic, but last time I was there, the AMF Bowling in Belco didn’t have any.
I too used to love flogging the Getaway II machine at AMF Bowling in Belco. The soundtrack rocked! The Gunners machine is definitely a favourite, also the Junkyard one, which I haven’t seen for ages.
One day I’ll buy one for home 🙂

Actually it was High Speed II The getaway. Excellent machine with the Turbo boost loop!
thanks for refreshing my memory. used to spend a lot of money at time out in belco on that one.
There is or was a guy in latham that owned KC’s Virtual reality, he used to show us the new pinnies as he got them. got to play T2 before it was released.

try a few garage sales, a mate picked up the handpainted kiss pinnie, complete with the backdrop and autographs from the band members… for $200.00
Holy crap – when?! It’s interesting that while the Kiss machines were one of the most produced games, they are also one of the most sort after.
back in the 90’s. he managed to get it restored with some contacts from Timeout at belco mall.
cost him next to nothing. it was a good pinnie to play, being a 20c model. (we just ran up a heap of credits with the door open)

$6400 for the Gunners machine. I know what I’m buying when I get a new house.
All I’d say dudes is also keep a reasonable budget ready for maintenance. These puppies are old ands do breakdown, and are not always easy to fix. If you were to pay those clowns out in Mitchell to fix a pinny or arcade machine, you’d go broke quickly!
$200 for a Kiss pinny is a bargain. The current going price for a working one is closer to $5,000

I don’t recall Gone Fishing. I remember Fish Tales..that was my favourite.

Thanks for the link H1NGO, my previous work had a very old skool machine (only went up to 10,000) and I’d love to get an old rattler for my garage.

Nothing beats the Twilight Zone machine.
Pinball as a whole was before my time really, but even I know that…
>Another favorite was The Addams Family.
The pot belly has the Addams family one right now.
I agree, very good.
They have a bunch at Intencity top level in Belco mall
Aside from that i think i recall there being a couple at the Belco AMF bowling alley

There is a place where they refurb and sell pinball machines in Brisbane. http://www.pinballwarehouse.com.au/

The ANU Bar has an Indiana Jones machine and a Lord of the Rings machine. I don’t play those ones much as I have 3 of my own at home.
In Belco there’s Zone 3 and, next to it, the Pot Belly.
I’m aware that one of Zone 3’s pinball machines is an Indiana Jones one.
The one at the Pot Belly changes from time to time… a bit of variety….
Love the Guns N Roses pinball, great multiball.
Another favourite was The Addams Family.
“There are a couple of places in Civic. Just above Gus’ cafe there is a pinball place.”
I thought that place had closed, have to check it out.

Can’t comment much on value for money, or range of tables, since I only went in there the once.
