Police claim they have arrested a drug dealer with a large client base, and allege they have seized $30,000-worth of illicit substances during recent raids.
In April, officers began investigating after suspecting the man was involved in drug trafficking and participating in a criminal group in Canberra, an ACT Policing spokesperson said.
This investigation resulted in search warrants being executed at homes at Greenway and Duffy, as well as a vehicle on Wednesday (13 August).
During these raids, police allegedly seized about 28.5 grams of methylamphetamines and 27.5 grams of heroin, as well as ammunition, knuckle dusters, drug paraphernalia, prescription drugs, about $860 cash and paperwork believed to track the man’s drug sales.
“The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $30,000,” the police spokesperson said.
“Police will allege the man has an ongoing customer base who rely on his supply of drugs.”
The man, a 45-year-old from Greenway, was charged with two counts of drug trafficking as well as single counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing ammunition, possessing a declared substance without authorisation and possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.
He was scheduled to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday (14 August).
