Three people will face court after allegedly stealing more than $7,000 worth of items from supermarkets, liquor and retail stores over the last three months, ACT Policing say.
At about 2 pm on Tuesday (20 May), a 19-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man visited the South.Point shopping centre in Tuggeranong where it’s alleged they stole multiple items worth more than $400 from both a grocery store and a department store.
It’s understood the pair had altercations with staff before being arrested a short time later.
Both are expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court next month, charged with two counts of joint commission theft. The man will also face a charge of possessing a knife without a reasonable excuse.
In a separate matter, police executed a search warrant on Tuesday at a 17-year-old boy’s residence in Kambah following an investigation into a series of thefts.
The boy was identified as a “person of interest” after allegedly entering multiple liquor and retail stores throughout north Canberra suburbs between March and May this year and stealing items valued at more than $6600.
He is expected to be charged with eight counts of minor theft and four counts of joint commission of theft and will face the ACT Children’s Court in June.
