A 24-year-old Dunlop man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on traffic offences following a pursuit overnight.
About 1am, Police detected a Ford utility travelling at speed on Southern Cross Drive, Page. Police followed the vehicle, checking its speed at 142km/hr in an 80km/hr zone.
Police conducted a traffic stop and the driver was subjected to a breath screening test which returned positive.
The male was then conveyed to the Belconnen Police Station where he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.177 – more than eight times the legal limit of .02 for a special driver.

Monday, 16 June 2008 – ACT Police media release

ACT Policing is investigating an attempted sexual assault which occurred in Belconnen early today.
The victim, a 35-year-old female, awoke to find a male allegedly attempting to sexually assault her.
The offender, a 30-year-old male from Belconnen, was arrested and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with attempt sexual intercourse without consent, act of indecency without consent and burglary.

Ant, usually I would never wish any ill towards another person. You on the other hand actually need some tragedy to befall you which requires the intervention of ACT Police. Now I don’t mean some trivial disturbance which, in your previous postings on this subject equate to major upheavals in your pathetic life. I mean something along the lines of a serious assault, major motor vehicle accident, major burglary where some of your most treasured possessions are stolen etc etc etc.

You will find that we have a professional and enthusiastic force who will do their utmost to resolve the situation according to legislation and at the same time offer all sorts of support services to assist you in you recovery from the event.

I doubt that you are stupid enough, and I stand to be corrected, that you would start gobbing off about fat, doughnut eating cops whilst you are lying on a hospital bed severely traumatised by a criminal action. If you had the ability to shut that smart arsed gobby mouth of yours you would find the police to be exactly as I have previously described them.

On the other hand, if these rants of yours are just an attempt at humour, it is crap, boring and inane and I challenge you to walk up to Police in the street and say it to their face.

@ant : I’m not having an argument about the effectivness (or not) of the police, nor will I be entering one. I am pointing out the ever lasting “from the hip” remarks from you about police “EVERY” chance you can get.

It is a way overdone by you and only makes you look like “sour grapes” syndrome. I think it has been proven that you are are a person that is “impossible” to please unless your “boots are licked” so to speak. So any grievences you speak of, are taken with a pinch of salt (on the policing front anyway)

What job or service to do you provide? (open question, don’t answer) Are you or your fellow workers perfect 100% of the time? In your job do you regularly get spat, punched, kicked at ?? You’re right, we have been through the police in the ACT are disappointing/useless etc argument on other threads. I remember someone shot you down in one of those threads and you had no reply. Funny about that.

If skaboy was not satisfied with police actions, there are steps he can take to rectify that, such as making a complaint to the relevant people. Same goes with you ant, with your many previous unsatisfactory experiences with police.

Police, since you seem to want to have this argument again, are very disappointing in the ACT. So it’s easy to dismiss them as doughnut-munching wastes of time. Would you like some more? Since I do mainly post “on the real issues”, but you and your pack of police/police wannabes keep wanting to bring it back to how useless our police are. I simply have concerns about the attitude I see displayed (including around here) by people employed to keep the peace. You know, that standard over the top, insulting, bombastic, aggressive shouting that passes for discussion (with just a touch of homophobia thrown in).

Still I can see how it is much easier for you to get aggressive and belligerent with people if you can pigeon hole their views. I guess you find the world allot simpler and safer when everyone who disagrees with you is simply a ‘hater’.

Gee Farq. Your comments wound me deep. It’s well known you hate Police. I just haven’t seen your particular brand lately.

It is well known that the ACT has a junior Police force due to Govt funding and lack of recruitment in the second half of the 90’s, early 00’s. Combined with the AFP’s growing commitment OS it’s not surprising more experienced people moved out of ACT Policing and into other areas, others resign and chase the big bucks as investigators with private companies, eg banks and the like which all have their own teams and employ x-Police to staff them. Natural progression as such. This has been discussed several times.

It’s also well known DMD will bite when anyone throws a line into his pond. I didn’t think I’d get him that quick, but hey, that’s fishing.

@DMD – I was specifically making the point about farq hating cops. As for the cop who recently got done for Child porn, I am not oblivious to cops not all being goody two shoes, and he in particular should rot in hard core pund me in the arse prison for a very long time.

Don’t quote me, but there is a class of trainees out and about at the moment. Next time you see more than half a dozen doing something, check their chevrons (shoulders). If the majority are blank and the lads look fit, clean and not yet worn down from shift-work and being constantly asked “Do you know who I am copper?”, then they’re probably getting some experiential learning in.
