I found it under Opinion, which surely is right, meet and proper – although the categorisation might depend upon the time of day, and position (prone, supine, recumbent, modified lotus etc.etc.) in which one takes in Jack’s pearls. The absence, or not, of consciousness-altering substances in one’s bloodstream may also come into it. On the latter point, I think there is a rather nice stream of consciousness feeling to this piece – as the sage words washed over me, and carried me to who- knows-where, I had lovely Liffey thoughts, and found myself asking, who needs Ulysses, when we’ve got our very own Jack?
