Last night there were people camping out at the entrance to the new suburb of Crace.
I’m curious to know why.
Are they releasing land today?

I wouldn’t buy in Crace. Way too many Community housing canberra properties….pity
Apparently most of the blocks were sold. But it wouldn’t of been a nice last night, as places with worst damage was Kaleen, Giralang & Palmerston & Crace is in the middle of there. Which is another reason why I’ll never live in Crace as Palmerston had the damage in January.
I’d be pretty surprised if the FHOGs don’t continue.
Crace is in a fairly good location too, I think, insofar as it seems to be much closer in than other residential Gungahlin suburbs.
I worked out why they were queueing, the first home buyers grants run out soon. Also land in other suburbs may not be for sale before the cut off date.
It is being built in partnership with LDA (Land Development Agency), CIC (Canberra Investment Corporation), DHA (Defence Housing Australia) & PBS property Group

What is so special about Crace?
Land is coming up for sale in Forde, Bonner & Franklin Stge 2 & 3 are getting close to house building & Casey is being developed. Work is also being done at Macgregor West & Dunlop (I think).
There isn’t as much readily available land as you think there is. And isn’t Crace being done by a private developer?
They mentioned this on one of the 104.7 news updates this arvo. Home buyers queueing to be the first to buy a block in Crace tomorrow.
At least it is actual home buyers not builders who are queuing.
How do you know a few apprentices haven’t been piad some overtime and a case of beer to wait and sign up?
‘Crace Changes Everything’
I’d say that’s a change alright!

I was one of them out there last night. Not for me though, for a friend.
Basically they are selling the land and house packages on Saturday morning and it’s on a first come first served basis.
My friend was going to go out early Saturday morning but went past yesterday and already saw people lining up so he thought he’d better do the same to be sure to get something.
I think once one person lined up then everyone else thought they’d better too as well
Isn’t that the way land was claimed in the Wild West?
I didn’t know you could just sleep on it. I could make a fortune…
They are just getting a feel for their new community.
When their houses are finished, they will be sleeping 6feet away from their neighbors anyway.
My wife saw about 10 people there a couple of days ago, in the morning, in sleeping bags etc.
