Ramming speed in a Blue Ford Falcon

A 31-year-old Watson man was arrested overnight for traffic and drug offences.

Between 10.30pm and 11.30pm last night (Monday, January 23), ACT Policing Operations received several calls from members of the public reporting a blue Ford Falcon station wagon ramming into other motorists.

This included reports of the Ford Falcon tailgating at least four separate vehicles with its high beams on, and ramming into these vehicles when they stopped at traffic lights.

Around 11.45pm, a City patrol located the Ford Falcon driving on Cotter Road. A search of the man and his vehicle resulted in police seizing approximately 500 grams of cannabis, 21 pills suspected to be MDMA and around 7.2 grams of white powder, suspected to be heroin.

The man was taken to the ACT Watch House, where he was charged with two counts of furious, reckless or dangerous driving and three counts of trafficking a controlled substance.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.

Well, he has a job, so the insurance companies involved will pursue him for it.

Assuming they themselves have the right insurance. Many people don’t.

I was once (only once thankfully) crashed into by a young lass who wasn’t insured. My insurance picked up the tab and then went after her. Third party property should be compulsory IMO. Wouldn’t have helped this bloke though. When the blood test comes back his insurance company will run a mile.

Matt Martin taught my daughter at Turner primary. He’s actually very passionate about teaching & seemed to genuinely care about his students welfare. That said, hearing about this did not surprise me either. Maybe now he can get the help that he needs.

I was told by a school counsellor that there is no right and wrong, just consequences.

That’s actually quite scary, but there’s a good proprtion of people who think this way. They should be gassed.
