ACT Policing arrested a 27-year-old Gordon man after he fled from police yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 11 June) in Canberra’s South.
Around 5:26pm yesterday Police attempted to approach a vehicle parked in Phillip Marketplace.
The male fled the scene and a short pursuit commenced through Phillip before being terminated.
The car was involved in a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Mawson Drive and Heard Street, Mawson, a short time later and failed to stop at the scene.
Three witnesses observed the male run from his damaged car and gave chase
The three men caught the man a short time later near the Mawson Playing Fields where police arrived.
Police seized a small quantity of cannabis in the man’s possession, and two mobile telephone’s located in the car.
Police executed a search warrant on the man’s home in Gordon, later that night, where they located a sum of cash and an additional quantity of cannabis.
The male was conveyed to the ACT Watch House and charged with dangerous driving, not obeying direction of police and traffic in trafficable quantity of cannabis.
