I’m not really sure what facts you expect. It’s pretty easy to determine speed is a factor by just looking at a collision.

I would think people would want to know that the street/road is safe and that this is an isolated incident.

I think about 2 years ago there was pressure on the AFP to release more media reports to the public.

These days things are put out there pretty quickly whilst the incident is still in it’s early investigations, meaning they can only possibly report on ‘indications’ and ‘speculation’

It’s better than nothing……..

I was a witness to the accident and I can guarantee he WAS wearing a helmet.

The way I read it is that initial investigations indicate speed was a contributing factor, however that can’t be confirmed until the investigation is complete. I doubt it’s pure speculation.

If you’re going to critique the punctuation of others, it’s best to be spot on with your own.

In the case of almost any street in Gungahlin speed is the most likely cause of a crash. The streets are designed to slow people down. Some people don’t pay attention to that. being stupid may be the underlying cause behind the speed.

A media release is posted after the collision team has investigated the scene. They would have a good idea on speculating the cause of the crash.
