Frano, your statement that the Raiders cheated the salary cap in 1994 is incorrect.
sb, I stand corrected. It was not 1994, it was in fact 1990…. http://www.rl1908.com/Clubs/Canberra-Raiders.htm

Why must we sit in the dark for enlightenment or have you not paid your electric light bill?
Frano, your statement that the Raiders cheated the salary cap in 1994 is incorrect.
I think they should abolish Rugby League altogether. In fact abolish sport. Everyone can sit home (in the dark) and think about god. ‘Cause he never cheats.
And Raiders fans cleverly forget the Raiders cheated the salary cap back in ’94 when they won the premiership…they have been doing it for years. Should the Raiders have lost their premierhsip like the Storm did?

It’s funny when so many Raiders fans cry “cheat” over salary cap breaches when they have been fined for the same offence in 2005, 2006,2007, & 2009!
Is it only cheating if you get caught?
Those salary cap breaches are only the ones that involve small errors.
Everyone knows that the real salary cap cheating is happening through third party and sponsor deals that are kept completely off the books.

Roosters have been known as the Rorters for years, due to the perception that they cheat the salary cap. I don’t think Johnboy was referring to them cheating in this game.
What’s the difference?
Cheating a little or just a bit?
From the NRL site 23/6/2010:
““Five clubs have been fined for 2009 salary cap breaches by the NRL.
The Broncos ($17,045), the Dragons ($22,500), Parramatta ($25,000), Canberra ($1,996) and the Sydney Roosters ($7,246) were all fined for breaches found in 2009 club audits.”

Go the Roosters, my grandson in in the 15 year olds for the Roosters, sounds like sour grapes with some people on here lol
The Roosters won fair & square – pretty sure that was just a slip of the pen by Johnboy.
The frustrating thing is that the Raiders have one of the best, if not the best, forward packs in the game. They’ve laid an awesome platform and kept us camped in the opposition 20 for the past two games and have been dominant in nearly every game this year.
But our backline, and in particular our halves, are absolutely killing us. Only Vidot and Thompson performed yesterday. A large part of the problem is our not having recruited a genuine halfback – Mogg needs to go and Don Furner Jr needs to focus on his job, ie recruiting players for key positions.

So Johnboy, you going to enlighten us on how the Roosters cheated or are we to assume that you were just throwing the toys out of the pram after another toothless performance from your Raiders?
Salary Cap? They’re just as bad as the dragons.
Then there’s that whole throwing matches thing last season.

Steady on Ian, in my opinion Joel Thompson along with Bronson Harrison are the two Raiders who actually put in good games week in, week out; win, lose or draw…
Having said that, the team does find new ways of breaking a fans heart every week. That “tap in” try will take some beating.
i was watching the news, i saw that ‘tap back’ that resulted in an easy try.
/facepalm
#5 – Dugan’s not the only one who seems unable to pass. You can add Croker, Joel Thompson, Monaghan and McCrone to that.
Big decisions ahead for the Raiders at the end of the year I think. Are they happy to be the Furner Family Footy Club, or do they want to be competitive and successful?
No team has to cheat when the Raiders play as bad as they did yesterday.
As Chewy said “Raiders having 75% of territory and unable to score;”
says it all.
The Raiders have the worst attack in the NRL, and with Cronulla in the comp that is saying something. They rely entirely on kicks to provide their tries and therefore do absolutely nothing for the 1st 4 tackles of any set they get on the opponents tryline. Cutting off Adam Mogg’s boot (or dropping him altogether) would be a step in the right direction. McCrone may not be the next Steve Mortimer but at least he can make things happen occasionally.
And as good as Dugan is at certain things, someone needs to explain to him the concept of passing the ball. At least once per match he butchers a try by ignoring men outsiding him. And man when he made that break he looked like he was on the treadmill! His running style is not conducive to speed and actually makes my eyes bleed.
And yeah Johnboy, Carney was everything the Raiders weren’t. Tough to swallow.
Its been a pretty miserable year for those braving Bruce Stadium this year regardless of code.
An intercept try, Dugan’s tap in try, Adam Mogg running sideways more than he ran forward, Raiders having 75% of territory and unable to score;
Shocking performance.
