It’s amazing how brave you can get in leathers and a full face helmet.

So you’re wondering why ?
I built it so I could ride some hills with my mate.
Ankle stability is an issue because of too many broken bits over the years, and besides, I can’t ride a skateboard for s#*t …..
So a scooter seemed like a fun option, and you certainly don’t see too many bombing the hills.
I was kind of looking forward to hooking up with the canberra skaters some time for a blast, but I guess I will be riding on my own given the encouraging words posted earlier.
For those of you that liked a different twist on lifes adventures, Thanks.
Dude you’re welcome to ride with us we hang shit on any one that doesn’t ride a skateboard (luge, G-bike, in-line), but so long as you’re keen on going fast its all good.

The road at the back of Chifley going up to Mt Taylor would probably be a good ride, too…

The scooter has maxed out at around 70k/h and is custom made for going downhills. It has a steering damper like on a gravity bike. This was made by a mate of a downhill skater in Canberra. We (the rest of the Canberra downhill skating community) are generally of the mind that this whole scooter thing is silly though.

Fulton J. Sheen (American religious preacher, 1895-1979)I fail to see how my post could be read as jealousy. I was simply giving some information about the thing and saying that, at large, the downhill skating community thinks its a little silly. Why would we be jealous of something that is slower, less stable, less maneuverable and harder to stop than what we ride?
Was just having a nip at you mate, i ride a 44″ cruiser. But after seeing this vid I can honestly say that I am jealous as hell and I want a scooter again. Or a downhill kickbike.

Just do what works for you – if others go along with you, great… if you are the only one to enjoy it – at least you are having fun. Check out the Drift Trikes though!!!

They’re doin’ it wrong!
The camera should have been mounted on the skoota.
There’s nothing like the thrill of going beyond 40Km/h when one is only inches above the asphalt.
I was so sure he would come off at the bridge. I was expecting there to be a rise or a dodgy joint connecting the road and bridge and that would have been the end of him.
But that was freakin awesome!! Top marks!
LOL – brings back memories I rode $60 Blade scooter down both Mountain Straight, from Sulman Park, and Conrod Straight, from Forest Elbow, one year (1999?) when I was flag-marshaling at Bathurst – no safety gear at all on a damp track! (Although that bit of road is kept spotless – so no chance of an errant pebble).
