Ask RiotACT: Recommendations for a psychiatrist

I’m currently seeing someone but I have an issue with some medication he wants to put me on and I would like a second opinion. If anyone knows of a psychiatrist who has good people skills and a professional demeanour, could you please advise.

(I have previously had a bad experience with a psychiatrist who was condescending and arrogant to the point of being offensive.)

I understand this frustration and needing to have certainty about medications and the opinion your psychiatrist is giving. One of the most difficult things about this in the ACT (and probably elsewhere) is that psychiatrists either have their books completely closed or have long waiting lists. I would thoroughly recommend and trust Dr Alexander Lim who practices from Yarralumla Professional Suites, but unfortunately I think you’re likely to have difficulty getting an appointment.
