A 22-year-old man has died while skiing in the Snowy Mountains region.
A NSW Police spokesperson said emergency services were called to Thredbo Resort at about 12:10 pm on Tuesday (2 September), following reports that a skier had crashed.
The skier, a 22-year-old man, died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.
Officers attached to Monaro Police District will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
A spokesperson for Thredbo Resort said the resort expressed its condolences.
“Thredbo is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of a skier at Thredbo Alpine Resort on September 2nd,” they said.
“Emergency Services were engaged with Thredbo Ski Patrol, and a Thredbo Medical Centre Doctor promptly attended the scene.
“The Thredbo community extends its heartfelt condolences to family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
The incident follows the death in August of a 22-year-old snowboarder, who had an incident while snowboarding at Perisher.
The snowboarder was identified in media reports as American Drew Youngquist, who was working at a Jindabyne business.
On its website, Thredbo notes the resort is home to Australia’s longest runs, and has the Southern Hemisphere’s only Alpine Coaster and Australia’s only alpine Gondola.
