Wot I said in the crazychester thread. I’d repeat it, but my keyboard is broken.
My vote goes that this judge, not being a pillow munching soft fag like the rest of them are.
I think Gurunik called it best and yes the defence team have indicated they will appeal 🙁
One judge got a backbone for a day. Don’t count on it being the same with an appeal judge. He’ll probably end up with half that sentence.
This is a great outcome. Although a life sentence would be better. Unfortunate though it is probably an abberation for the ACT courts.
I’m sure countless appeals (paid by us) and counsellors telling how he feels sad about what he did.
i am suprised it didn’t get 7 with 3.5yr non parole period, back dated to when it was assessed that its disorder commenced in childhood. that was my expectations of the act courts system.
perhaps this is an outbreak of commonsense.
Serial rapist gets 25yrs minimum.
His victims effectively get a life sentence.
Fair? Hell no. He should have got life.
Great sentence.
Mr Serial Rapist will probably have served it by the time we see another like it.
Judge with PMT?
Oh well, he’ll learn all about break and enter in prison when his ‘backdoor’ is violated.
Wonders never cease, but, as Yoda says one sentence does not a tough judiciary make.
The community should expect sentences like this, rather than be pleasantly surprised. This is a run of the mill sentence in NSW
there are some crimes where i believe in rehab. but rape.. yeah throw away the key
Stuff rehabilitation, he should be (and has been) severely punished). Hopefully the victims can get some closure.
A crushing sentence in anyones language, clearly the prospects of rehabilitation must have been assessed as dim.
Wonder what he would’ve got if he’d held up a servo then used the takings to buy hookerbots instead? You get the thrill of the crime, you get laid, and I’m guessing you’d get about 23 fewer years of free lower bowel inspections.
It registered on my sarc meter heavs
There’ll be an appeal no doubt? Funded by Legal Aid?
I think it’s a pretty reasonable sentence. I’m just carrying on a previous argument about whether our Courts are soft or not. Sarcasm doesn’t come through that well in pixel form!
25 years seems like a substantial sentence…
You’d have preferred life?
